Bisoprolol fumerate and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) have been used individually and in combination for the treatment of hypertension. The combination provides an additive clinical response. The hypokalemic effects with HCTZ 6.25 mg combination are significantly lower than with HCTZ 25 mg. Bisoprolol fumerate is a highly selective β1 – adrenoceptor blocking agent, without significant membrane stabilizing or intrinsic sympathomimetic activities in its therapeutic dose range.
